Getting started

Can't really think of much to say on getting NESticle started, it's fairly easy and self-explanatory. When you've downloaded the program from the URL above, run it, and it pops into DOS mode where you will use your mouse to navigate a severed bleeding hand (yes, really) around the top-edge menus.

With many other emulators, here too you may want to go to Settings and Input first, to re-define (or just learn) the keys for the different joysticks / input devices. After that's all set, you're ready to go! Download some NES ROMs and prepare for a few hours of good solid fun!

DISCLAIMER:

Supposedly, from what many other websites say, even though these games are hopelessly outdated and can't be bought in stores anymore (that I know of anyway) the ROMs are illegal to download unless you also are the proud owner of the original cartridges. Even more supposedly, they may be downloaded for test purposes, but must then be deleted within 24 hours.
