When did an average joe kill an alien?  I never saw an Alien in that movie die to anyone but the Wolf.  Unless you count the ones killed by the Predator cannon WIELDED by a human.  The national guards didn't have those either.  Please correct me if my memory is bad.

Yea...I'm all for minor spelling and grammar errors but I couldn't understand a word you said...could you try to be a bit more clear?

Ok after watching the review your post is a bit clearer...I think he was unduly harsh personally.  But it's like he said "Pretend the humans aren't there".  That's exactly what I did.  Do you know what I was thinking while the humans were talking?  "Let's see, which one of them is going to die next?  That one?  THAT one?  OH maybe THAT one!".  Get what I'm saying?  HUMANS DON'T MATTER.  The action scenes were spot on and both Aliens and the Predator had some terrific fan service.  They even had "Get to the chopper!".  I mean COME ON.  I was the ONLY person in the theatre who laughed at that!

Well you've got to consider that the national guard weren't exactly trained to hunt monsters...plus they had comparatively primitive weaponry to the space marines in Aliens.  They didn't have pulse rifles, they were out in the open, they had no idea what they were dealing with, and they were caught by surprise.  I don't think it was very far-fetched at all.

Well, as I'm sure you didn't read my post if you havn't seen the movie yet I can see why you think all the reviews are negative.  But just so you don't have to read what I said, I give the movie a glowing endorsement.  Unlike AVP1, this movie is worth seeing.  You may not like everything about it but I enjoyed myself immensely.  Don't think you shouldn't see it just because of what movie critics are saying because they're not FANS.

Since the tie-in game for the movie on the PSP is made by the same people as the old AVP games would you consider it to be AVP3?  From the reviews I've read it sounds like the game is pretty bad...nothing like a true sequel to AVP2 which is one of the best shooters I've ever played.  I think it's about time we got a kickass sequel on PC/Xbox 360/PS3.  We have the power now let's put it to use!  Now that AVP:R is out and people seem to like it I think that the time right for a REAL AVP game not this movie tie-in garbage!

Well this is MY review.  Beware as it does contain some fairly major spoilers.  I give you all fair warning of that NOW.

And just to be EXTRA clear.  SPOILERS FOLLOW.

From a plot perspective, I went into the film with absolutely no expectations.  After the first film I would say anything that doesn't involve an underground Mayan temple with an alien breeding ground (And doesn't involve a Predator befriending a human) is a good story.  The characters were just there to be fodder for the violence and that's EXACTLY how I like it.

I thought the Alien aspect was well played, there was plenty of chestbursty action and lots of brain-eating.  I thought the Aliens had a number of shocking "Oh Shit!" moments what with the popping out of nowhere as well.  All around I thought the Aliens were well portrayed.  The only issues I had were with the Predalien's breeding method...I thought that since there was no queen a full-blown infestation couldn't happen too quickly but the writers/directors decided to pull a cop-out and make the Predalien breed in an...unorthodox method.  That I severely disliked.  Plus it led to the Pred being overwhelmed in the end...another no-no I say.

As to the Predator, in that respect the movie really shined.  There was only ONE Predator and that's the way it SHOULD be.  He was like an elite cleaner/coverup agent.  He jacked another Pred's ritual plasmacaster from the first movie and that made him all the more badass.  He took on dozens of Aliens (and the occasional gun-toting stoner) and blew them all away in brilliant fashion.  But I've always been a fan of Yautja technology and gadgetry more than anything else so it was that aspect of the Predator that really made me love this film.  They showed a ton of kickass new Pred gadgets.  The SWEET tracking beacons/laser webs from the sewer fight were AMAZING.  Plus they showed an awesome power-glove kinda thing and even more awesome was that kickass blue goo.  It was like some sort of biodegrading bacteria generator that made me go "I WANT ONE NOW!".  And even though he only used his discs once, the outcome was awesome.  Skewered cheerleader anyone?

As to the ending.  Well, I thought it was believable to an extent.  The government contingency plan has been done before, and that gives it credibility.  But as to the outcome of the Aliens vs. Predator battle...well I thought that a tad far-fetched.  The Predator had clearly come out victorious when out of nowhere he gets speared.  Why would every other Alien die when it's stabbed in the head but not the Predalien?  It makes no sense.  Also the timeline was a tad off.  The first few aliens definitely had enough time to gestate, as it only needs a couple of hours.  But once we got to the hospital scene it was clear that the chestbursters both burst and matured FAR too quickly.  But as mentioned above, some plot was cut for the theatrical edition so perhaps the timeline will be made more clear in the DVD edition?  Anyway, that's my reaction and these are my comments.  Feel free to say what you thought of the movie!

Well I saw the movie yesterday and I think that it looks much better on the big screen than in these little pictures.  I didn't even notice that it had yellow skin since it was mostly in darkness the whole movie.  The mandibles look fine to me as well.  I actually like the design quite a bit.

And how do you know there's only 1 Predator?  'Cus from the Trailer it could certainly look like there were more (12 maybe not...).  I don't want to read up on the all the stuff on the movie, it spoils the experience for when I finally see it.  As far as I'm concerned, I can't be certain of how many Preds or Aliens there are until I actually watch the thing on Christmas.

Well, I havn't posted on this forum in like...more than a year.  But with the release of this trailer I just had to post my utter joy somewhere.  I despised the first AVP movie.  But this one looks so much better.  There were more awesome Pred kills in just the trailer than in the entire first movie!  The reason I like Predators is because they kill shit in the coolest way imaginable (also the reason I like Pred 2 more than Pred 1, the kickass kills).  Plus with a new game coming (from the same ppl that made the first 2 no less!) I can't help but jump up to punch the air.

I searched high and low for both the MAME arcade versions and the Atari version of AVP but all I could find was the much crappier SNES AVP.  If anybody wants it just reply to this thread and I'll host it.
