Never posted about this here yet either. It was announced last year that Shane Black will be directing a new Predator movie. Shane Black played Hawkins in the original Predator.

Wow, I just looked this up on IMDB and this DOES actually sound pretty promising! It seems to be in a very early stage, but thanks for the notice! I'll definitely be keeping an eye on this one.

Especially as an apparent direct sequel to the first Predator it sounds very interesting from a story/plot point as well.

It might not be a "direct" sequel. That's what Predators was supposed to be. Nothing about the movie is known at the moment.

Heard nothing from Arnie either. I suspect he'll make some appearance.

Well he seems to be going back into the movie biz after his time as Governator anyway so I suppose he'd want to grab some screen time in any of his old classics if he can, even if just some small cameo.

I remember having some comic of Dutchs brother, or something along those lines, going down to the jungle to pick a fight with a predator so I just figured maybe it'd be something like that that was getting made now, but regardless of the story it should be interesting to see!

And I certainly didn't feel Predators was an awful movie either by any extent. There were things I strongly disliked about it such as the whole mutated "improved" predator concept as well as how some things were visually portrayed but all on all it felt like a big step in a positive direction. I'll be glad to see if things continue down that road.

Another very interesting find. I would be very thrilled to check out a new Predator movie.

Well, over a year later and this one is getting close to start filming now, in september if I'm not mistaken. Definitely sounds like it should be a lot more true to form and the original story from the first two films, so still pretty excited about this one and looking forward to what the next few months will reveal.

Only thing that sounds potentially scary is an interview clip I saw where Shane Black did not want to comment on whether there would be any "female predators" in the film. That angle could potentially turn out disastrous if they do go down that road. Brings up disturbing images of something like the "sexy gremlin" with wrist claws in my head

Bear in mind, that ADI who did AvP, are doing the Predator designs. Make of that what you will.

Argh!

Well, we shall see how it turns out I suppose. At least Shane was involved with the original and will hopefully want something closer to that look brought back.

ADI are generally quite good if give them enough money but the studios never seem to invest enough money in them. They definitely got their act together with Wolf in Requiem.

I'm cautiously excited about this movie - Shane Black's directorial work has been really hit or miss for me, I loved Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, ended up (like many people) disliking Iron Man 3 over the twist, and couldn't finish The Nice Guys as I didn't find it funny, despite loving the concept. Some things I hear about this movie sound really promising (the detective angle for example) some terrible (kids being prominent). So very conflicted feelings as you can see!

And I certainly didn't feel Predators was an awful movie either by any extent. There were things I strongly disliked about it such as the whole mutated "improved" predator concept as well as how some things were visually portrayed but all on all it felt like a big step in a positive direction. I quite agree, I thought Predators wasn't too bad at all, I certainly enjoyed it.

Indeed, Wolf looked fine, not too concerned about ADI being involved, especially if this film does end up with a half-decent budget.
