In case you haven't heard, Neill Blomkamp has announced he's doing Alien 5. Check out the concept art he posted earlier this year. It features Ripley and Hicks and it possibly is going to retcon Alien 3/Alien Resurrection.

Yeah I hadn't heard of this one either, and with Sigourney Weaver rumoured as Ripley? I thought she had decided and publicly stated in some interview that she's had enough of Ripley and prefers her just dead and buried in the past or something like that.

And this one is even in pre-production, hmm. Seems like some exciting times may lay ahead for both of these franchises then, now there's at least two movies to possibly look forward to which I guess limits the risks of both ending up complete turkeys.

Actually, Sigourney has been saying for the last year that she wants to do another one. Blomkamp was asking her about it as they both worked on his new movie Chappie. He commissioned concept arts to be made without Fox knowing. He posted them on Instagram earlier this year and there was a lot of hype for it. A month later. Fox greenlights the movie.

Huh, imagine that. I suppose I've missed a lot of ongoings on the scene in recent time, but that's all great news anyway. I actually find myself honestly curious about what will come of both of these new films, I do get the feeling at least the right people seem to be involved this time.

I had no idea about that, but it looks very interesting. Let's see what happens.

They're still developing Prometheus 2 as well, you know. Script has already been written but Ridley Scott is busy. He's producing Alien 5 though.

Have you two been living under a rock or something for the past five years? Seriously, all this news is posted on every major movie news site. You can't really miss it.

Haha, you have at least one false assumption - you see, I don't visit sites with movie news at all. When Alien 5 comes out I'll surely see it, but that's it, in the meantime I'll concentrate on other things.

As for Prometheus 2 - I had no idea about that either, but it's definitely not even 1/10 of the excitement I have for Alien 5. I thought Prometheus was pretty average so it does not make me wait for the second part with that much of impatience.

I've been following new movies a little bit in general and I knew about the sequel to Prometheus which I'm checking in on every once in awhile on IMDB just to see how it's doing, but that movie represents pure anti-excitement for me after having seen the first one. I would probably be just as happy if it didn't get made really.

But another Alien with Ripley in it, I can get behind with at least a tiny amount of excitement

As far as living under a rock - not exactly but it's definitely true in terms of all things Alien or Predator for me. I just haven't kept track of this scene at all since, yeah, pretty much about 2010 or so when I made my last news post about it here I would say

Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, G+, Tumblr, Bebo? Everybody has at least one account... except if your name is Red Giant or VenomX. What exactly do you do when you're online? My days are all engineered around news whether I'm at my PC, phone or tablet.

When Alien 5 comes out I'll surely see it, but that's it, in the meantime I'll concentrate on other things.

Which is kinda sad. Don't you look forward to movies? Enjoy the hype before they come out?

Which is very depressing too. It's like the interest in these franchises has been sucked out of you both.

Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, G+, Tumblr, Bebo?

The last two you mention I haven't even heard about. As for the others - no, I don't have accounts on any of those sites. I have a gmail account, yes, but not google+. Only mail.

My days are all engineered around news whether I'm at my PC, phone or tablet.

I read quite a lot news too, but there are different kinds of news. I read news on science, politics, economy etc. I rarely read news on movies. Sometimes I do, mainly by coincidence, when I spot something on more general sites. But I don't visit sites dedicated to movies. I just don't have time for it since it's not on the top of my priority list.

Don't you look forward to movies? Enjoy the hype before they come out?

Well, generally not because in order to look forward to a movie I need to know it is going to come out. Now, when I know that A5 is going to be made, I am quite intrigued because of the huge sentiment I have for the first 3 Alien movies. So I will probably check on it from time to time. When I go to the cinema to see it I will probably feel the hype, at least to certain extent.

It's like the interest in these franchises has been sucked out of you both.

Yes and no. I still LOVE some of the first movies - first three Aliens and the first Predator. I enjoy watching them just like 20 years ago. However, after the more recent stuff like both AvPs, Predators (much better, but still not as interesting as I hoped) and Prometheus I kind of lost my faith that I will see any NEW great Alien/Predator movie. I'd love to be mistaken though and hopefully Alien 5 will prove me wrong.
