*is interested in such an answer as well*

Personally, me and my boyfriend both still enjoy Aliens: Colonial Marines quite a bit; we don't get the negative responses to it. To be honest, the Bug Hunt DLC for it is great fun and a good challenge. The one campaign DLC as well was fairly look if you can look past the few loose threads of the plot.

So yeah, I'd like to hear why you didn't like it, Thecoolalien. Just kind of curious.
(I've seen way too many threads on Steam where people bash it simply because the graphics look a bit different than what they thought they were promised.)

*EDIT*
And yes, I agree, Isolation really does look pretty good for a singleplayer horror.

I was indeed saddened to hear of this as well. Tragic.
At least his legacy will live on.

There was one very fitting comment I saw on another game forum :

He will be missed, but his creations will live on inside of us

Wow.. has it really been that long? *looks in own profile* Just.. wow.
It really doesn't feel like 10 years have passed. Despite the lack of activity here, it's still a testament that this forum is still up after this length of time.

Great to see at least a couple people still around. Happy late Birthday as well Red Giant!

I believe there is a whole series of "Mega ___ vs ___" movies out, at least I've been seeing commercials recently for a few... which is kind of sad.

I did get you were exaggerating but I just wanted to bring to light some other bad movies lol.

While I haven't seen how bad Alien vs Hunter actually is, I wonder if it can be worse than "The Final Sacrifice". That movie was made fun of by Mystery Science Theatre 3000.. and it seemed like the lowest budget... no it couldn't have even HAD a budget.. The budget went to buying beers for the "lead" actor. This movie's only worth was that it is darn funny to make fun of.

Ooh.. Alien vs Hunter.. I remember seeing that cover around before. Kind of surprising Fox let them get away with that...

And about things worse than AVP:R.. I have seen my share of horrid movies that are far worse. AVP:R is a masterpiece compared to some Uwe Boll movies and others...

With the cutbacks to many space programs and the world economics recently, is a plan like that even viable?

Who would volunteer unless they had the technology for back and forth travel at least in the works and progressing? We are still stuck at rocket propellants and the space shuttle stage and unless they've been hiding something big, even coming up with that kind of tech in 10 or 20 years seems a big jump to me. It would almost certainly be a one-way mission for most of their lives.

Not sure what kind of person would volunteer for that, in addition to the fact that at least for the first few waves, you'd be alone with a very small number of people for a very long time...

Doesn't sound all that appealing to me lol.

But it is technically interesting if they can pull it off!

I feel this movie insults the viewers intelligence more than anything, breaking all sorts of laws within both physics and biology not to mention the laws of sensible filmmaking.

Isn't this true of the majority of movies nowadays? It seems to be commonplace to make up for in CG what the movie lacks in plot, dialogue and character development.

But it is disheartening to hear a review such as this. I know myself and a lot of old AVP buddies of mine had high hopes for Prometheus.

I will of course wait and watch the movie myself at some point, I always try to keep from being biased when seeing something new but from what you said in the other thread VenomX, about the one writer being from the show Lost.. well there was a reason I never watched that show.

Darkness, you said some of it was very similar to the first AVP? All I can say to that is ugh.. I actually prefer Requiem to AVP (thanks to many actors from shows that I like). The first AVP movie was such a rip-off and mutilation of the AVP Comic/Novel 'Prey' that it is painful for me to watch it. If Prometheus is similar... *shudders*.. Not a good thing in my book unfortunately.

Again though, when I get a chance, I will try to watch Prometheus as little unbiased as possible.. I hope...

This is really bringing back the memories of the marine campaign from AVP1.. especially the gateway station levels. Despite the very dated graphics, AVP1 Gold remains my favourite of the series.. we will have to see if A:CM will be able to challenge it

But it is indeed looking great so far.

Check out this video of it : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VBtqXvbfetw

At about the 1:56 mark they start showing actual multiplayer footage.. and even alien evolution during multiplayer gameplay! There are actual bull-aliens in MP
(3:30 or so in the video)

EDIT: Fixed the url /vx

Hey to VenomX and Red Giant, nice to see you guys on here again

Indeed, Prometheus is looking to be interesting. I suppose it came out a few days ago and I'd be interested to hear what people think of that.

The trailers for Aliens : Colonial Marines is looking great too, especially the Alien multiplayer (says the alien-player).

It would be great to see one or both of those bring the fans back to AVP.

(And I would reply to any threads created as well!)
