You should really see the extended edition, although I know some people who like Alien 3 that don't like the extended cut. Worth a look at any rate.

The aliens expression looks more to me like alarm/pain rather then being scary, looks like somebody just stuck a pointy stick up its ass.

It's also why we need human characters. Two hours of fight scenes would get boring. You need build.
