It sounds that to most people, the darkness and choppy cuts are a big problem, but I've heard that might just be in some of the theatres, and will probably be a lot clearer on DVD versions.
Also, people seem to feel the plot doesn't build too well and characters aren't developed properly etc, but you also want to keep in mind the Strauses have already stated there will be a lot more of that on the DVD directors cut version. They had to cut a lot of stuff for the theatrical, so if it's too fast-paced now, it might have a smoother feel on DVD.
Anyway, I'm definitely going to see it in theatres myself only to support the franchise and directors and such, but I'm not going to allow myself to be TOO disappointed until I've watched the DVD edition too.
