I think you should have added at least one more option - art AND business.
That's how it is in many cases.

Besides it depends on what kind of "music" you're talking about and how you define music itself. For example rap, hip hop or techno are neither music nor art in my opinion.

I think music in itself, is always an artform per definition since it's (hopefully) an expression of somebodys thoughts or feelings. It's a creative outlet.

Unfortunately the whole concept is severely abused for big business these days, cranking out and promoting only what sells at the time. But I feel it's hard to deny that it's still usually art, in some form or on some level, while it doesn't necessarily always have to be about business.

Thus, I vote art, although if you put Mtv or something on these days, you're likely to find mostly just business.

It's art. No matter how artificial a group is, someone wrote the song. Someone put the effort in.

And a lot of art is boring, over-blown, self-centered, meaningless, and sometimes it's really good.

There is an element of business to all art. That's why you don't see people giving away their art for free.

If i were to pick up a paper, and write a song no matter how dopey it was, so long as it expressed something that I felt inside I believe its true art.

Britney spears for example has cranked out alot of songs that probably didnt express what she felt at all, she was simply to young and inexperienced. However, now a days I feel like what she is singing is comming more from her heart and more about how shes truely feeling, so even if im not a britney spears fan, I am certaintly sensing more feeling comming from her then ever before.

But I think music is more powerful then just expression, I think theres something truely spiritual about music that touches somewhere deeper then we realize, and so id much prefer songs that werent angry or full of hate for myself!! So id much rather censorship actually (ducks)!!!!

No, I don't think she does.
Other people do it for her.

For most of her songs I doubt she was involved in the writing, but she probably has at least something to do with the later ones, like the song that's supposed to be her apology to Justin Timberlake or such.
